  • Understands the Concepts, issues, and methods related to the management and maintenance of collections, including preservation and conservation, of various collections.
  • Has knowledge of the basic principles of storing, preserving and conserving information.

This competency was met by analyzing an existing collection development policy and creating a selection process scenario including steps to evaluate, select, and acquire materials. The management of resources was met by the publisher license analysis while the midterm helped prepare me for ethical issues in the acquisition and collections management area. The weeding exercise of an academic, medical collection required me to use the C.R.E.W. method.
